Stand On It

The Design of the Chest Piece

More than just a garment placed over the breast, the chest piece, clothed in fine woven linen and adorned with jewels and gold of many colors. This is a profound representation of beauty, responsibility, and reverence. It is not merely ornamental, but deeply symbolic of the posture we are called to carry within our hearts before the Lord.

This posture is not reserved only for moments in His Presence, but must extend into how we live and how we present our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to Him, each and every day (Romans 12:1).

The chest piece reminds us that what we wear both physically and spiritually. It speaks of our consecration, our calling, and our covenant with God.

Build On It

In the New Testament, Paul encourages us to “put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes” (Ephesians 6:11). Among these pieces of armor, the breastplate holds a vital place.

Wearing the breastplate of righteousness empowers us as believers in Christ to stand firm in our faith. It signifies an inner strength and moral conviction that comes not from ourselves, but from a right relationship with God. We are reminded that it is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ that we have been saved, not by works, but as a gift from God (Ephesians 2:8-9).

The Proverbs teach us:
“Guard your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life.” – Proverbs 4:23

By guarding our hearts, we become intentional about what we allow to influence us ,our thoughts, our choices, and our worship. This guarding is not passive; it is active and sacred.

The breastplate, both in its ancient design and spiritual significance, calls us to live armored, alert, and aligned with the righteousness of Christ.
